Raising Your Voice

I’m primarily a stage actor; that’s what my training is in. But a few months back, a friend approached me with a voice gig. She hooked me up with this company at her recording studio that was recording instructions for an online CD, and they wanted me to do the narration for it. It was some extra cash, so I figured it was a good idea. I didn’t expect it to be so fun though. Even though the material was mundane, we had a very fun time going through it and reading it in different ways. It made me see that a lot goes into these voice projects. Now, I’m in the market for voiceover work. I’ve spoken with my agent and he thinks it’s a great idea to beef up my resume and to make some cash while having a great time. I’ve subscribed to some casting websites so that I can go searching for calls on my own, and so far I’ve booked another two gigs. Who knew that I had such a marketable voice?
